Senior Division II Mixed
This season the Division II Mixed team had a loyal basic membership of Katherine Ip, Kerry Sinclair, Rob Craigie and Allan Watson but were grateful for occasional assistance from Danny Watson, Bryan Connell and Susanne Wells.
The team reached the semi finals of its section but rain denied us the chance of moving to the finals, the match being cancelled but awarded to Bishopdale who had a points advantage over St Martins in the round robin games.
It was an unusual season with only six games scheduled for the summer and Canterbury Tennis has undertaken to ensure this is not repeated in future seasons.
Thanks to the team members for some very enjoyable tennis.

Midweek Ladies
Monday team
We had a good season with games against 13 other clubs, and rain causing cancellation only a couple of times. In one instance we were to host a team from the North West side of town but had to telephone them and call it off because of steady drizzle at St Martins. They suggested we bring our prepared plates of food over to them and play on their courts as it was fine but overcast over there. We took up their suggestion and had a full morning's play.
I seem to recall we had more wins than losses on the Monday tennis circuit. We thank our team organisers for all the preparation they do over the winter in setting up the matches, the printing out of the draws, and the telephoning to make sure we were available before each match. We look forward to another successful season of tennis for the Monday team.

Wednesday team
I would like to thank all the girls who have played in the Wednesday morning mid-week ladies team this season.
With the 11 different clubs we played we had some challenging games which have been thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Sadly, we are losing Leianne in our team this year due to work commitments. She has been of great support and strength to us.
I would like to thank Pat Duckmanton for taking over the team. The bookings have been made this season and, if anyone is interested to play a game or join our team, please ring Pat on 3396096.

Very early in the season (September) we are asked by Canterbury Tennis to provide team names and details, and teams or players cannot be added after that date. Please express your interest by mid September if you have any interest in forming, or being part of, a team. Details of competition levels, venues and dates can be obtained from Sheila Smurthwaite.
